About the Author
Lalita du Perron received her PhD from SOAS, University of London. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Department of Music, SOAS, and she specialises in music and poetry of the classics of Hindustani music 1903-75.

This is a great book!!

Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about thumri. It is well written and researched. Though the book concentrates on the lyrical content in thumri there is valuable information on history and cultural context. If you are interested in Hindustani music, dance and culture this book is a valuable addition to your library.
